The application

Minbar Caption is a free, open-source desktop editor for captioning and translating spoken and sung content. Use and redistribution of its source code are governed by the license accompanying that code.

Your content and responsibilities

You retain your rights in your recordings, subtitles, and exports. Ensure that you have permission to use and publish all audio, video, images, fonts, translations, and other material in your projects. You are responsible for the content you share and for keeping backups.

AI and accuracy

AI-generated transcripts, translations, corrections, and reference suggestions can contain errors. Review their wording, timing, meaning, and references before publishing, particularly for religious material.

Third-party services

Optional cloud features require your own provider API keys. Provider fees and terms apply separately. Do not share private keys or use services without authorization. Availability and behavior of external providers may change.

Community library

Publish only presets and previews you are entitled to share. Do not upload harmful content, private information, or material that violates others' rights. Community submissions may be removed when needed to address abuse or rights complaints.

Availability and liability

The software and website are provided as available, without a guarantee of uninterrupted operation or error-free results. To the extent permitted by law, the creator is not liable for losses arising from their use. Nothing in these terms limits rights that cannot legally be excluded.
